Keeneymfg: Oatey buys assets of plumbing products maker Keeney Manufacturing

Cleveland-based plumbing products company Oatey Co. has acquired certain assets of Newington, Conn.-based Keeney Manufacturing Co.Terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed, the company said in information provided to Crain's Cleveland Business. The deal closed on Nov. 5.Keeney is a maker and distributor of plumbing products like plastic and brass tubular products and sink and toilet repair parts.The acquisition included Keeney's plastic injection molding operation in Winchester, N.H., and its distribution facilities in Buford, Ga., and Sparks, Nev., a news release stated. It also included the stock of Tubular Industries of Canada Ltd. and KMC (Jiangmen) Co. Ltd., Keeney's international subsidiaries.There was one facility in Newington that was not acquired, Oatey said in the additional information provided to Crain's. All of Keeney's employees were part of the acquisition, though Oatey declined to state how many employees that was. Oatey now has about 1,500 employees overall.Keeney will continue operating as a standalone business, the release said."The acquisition of Keeney enables us to provide our customers with an even greater breadth of products and adds the highly recognized and trusted Keeney, Plumb Pak and Belanger brand names to our product offerings," Oatey CEO Neal Restivo said in the release. "This transaction also significantly enhances our plastic and brass manufacturing capabilities and provides us with additional plastic injection molding capacity in the U.S."
