I saw an article about Lake Tapps the other day on Facebook and had a good laugh when I read the comments. Apparently, most of the people who commented on the article didnt realize that Lake Tapps is a actually a reservoir. In other words, the lakes water level can be controlled. :) I saw everything from blaming one political party or another, global warming and our lack of snow pack this year. Youve got to love Facebook comments right? Although the water level is extremely low right now to allow for some work to be done on the outflow, it is not cause for alarm. Fear not people, Tapps will fill again in time for water skiing, wake boarding and just general Summer fun Lake Tapps is drawn down every year, its been that way for as long as I can remember and as far as I know, it will continue into the future. If the lack of water in the Winter months is a concern, you need to be careful where you buy on the lake. Some areas hold water year round while others are pretty much stumps and mud for a few months a year. The lower water levels can be a gift of sorts for homeowners on Tapps in the Winter. Its much more peaceful and quiet when you dont have to contend with boat traffic. You also have an opportunity to make repairs on your docks, boat and jet ski lifts as well as your bulkhead without the need for scuba gear. The glass can be half full, just like the lake. Historically, the next few months will bring many new waterfront homes listed for sale. Spring is a great time to buy or sell on Tapps and homeowners thinking about a move this year should be listing soon. If you hope to buy a waterfront home on Tapps this year, now is the time to prepare. Ask us out to evaluate your current homes value, get yourselves pre approved for a mortgage if you arent paying cash and be ready to make a move when that special house hits the market this Spring. Unfortunately, we get calls every year from hopeful buyers that are not prepared to compete in this market. Its no fun telling someone that the home they fell in love with online already has 3 offers and wont be accepting a contingent offer on the buyers home that isnt even listed yet. Believe me, Ive been there. Please dont let that happen to you, get yourself ready to buy now so you can enjoy your new home on Lake Tapps this Summer
