Kia has long been collaborating with the X-Men movie franchise, and last year the brand revealed a variation of the Sorento modeled after the iconic character of Wolverine ahead of the release of the X-Men: Days of Future Past film. Now, with the next installment in the franchise on the way in the form of X-Men: Apocalypse, Kia has released the new Sportage X-Car, which was redesigned in the colors of the character Mystique. The X-Car bears a blue-patterned paint job meant to resemble Mystique's natural blue skin, while other details, such as red and gold accents and yellow-tinted headlights, reference the color of her hair and eyes. The redesigned Sportage also bears a large silver 'X' badge on its grille, identifying it as the next vehicle in Kia's X-Car lineup in addition to the Wolverine-inspired Sorento. The new Sportage variant was made to debut at the 2016 Australian Open Tennis Tournament in Melbourne.Kia representative and tennis star Rafael Nadal has told press that the new Sportage X-Car will be used in global promotions of both the Kia Sportage and the X-Men: Apocalypse film. Kia Motors intends to display the redesigned Sportage alongside the regular Sportage at various auto shows during the 2016 year.
