Kmgchemicals: Fort Worth chemical manufacturer acquired in $1.6B deal

KMG Chemicals, a Fort Worth-based chemical manufacturer, was acquired by an Illinois company in a deal valued at $1.6 billion, the two companies announced Wednesday. Cabot Microelectronics Corp. (NASDAQ: CCMP), the acquirer, is the world's leading supplier of chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) polishing slurries, and the second-largest CMP pads supplier to the semiconductor industry, the company said.
