10:09 EST - Zayo Group's (ZAYO) $675M deal for Latisys Holdings moves the Internet infrastructure provider deeper into the data center business at no small cost -- it's ZAYO's second-biggest deal ever after its $2B+ acquisition of Internet carrier AboveNet -- for prime real estate around Internet hotspots like DC, Chicago and London. ZAYO has driven consolidation in network infrastructure to the point that there are few independent owners of those assets left in the US and Europe. Latisys could signal the start of a similar trend in data centers, a business with lots of tiny players. ZAYO slips 0.5% to $29.70.
