Liberata: Liberata extends contract with Hounslow

Business process services provider, Liberata, has extended its revenue collection & benefits assessment services contract with the London Borough of Hounslow. The new deal is worth £9.5m over the 30-month period and will see Liberata overseeing the digital transformation of services. The council aims to enable greater self-service and automation of business processes. The original contract was worth £50m over ten years (more per annum than the extension); the council claims the arrangement has saved it £22m to date. This will be a relief to Liberata. Its local government business has not won any significant business for some time and revenues have suffered (see UK local government supplier landscape report). The company launched its Liberata Capacity Grid offering, a revenue and benefits resilience service, to try and reinvigorate the business. Liberata claims to have a community of 146 local authority customers using the service but we don't believe it has generated the revenues that the company had been hoping for. This contract extension with Hounslow will give the company a chance of showing what it can do to modernise local government services. But will it be too little too late? We will be updating our analysis of the UK local government supplier landscape in the second half of the year. The report will be accessible to TechMarketView PublicSectorViews subscribers.
