Little River Bed And Breakfast Blog Lots to Love About the Fall!

I LOVE the Fall! I know it isn't everyone's favorite season. It can be sad to see the warm and sunny summer days coming to an end, knowing that the snow and cold weather will be here soon... but I can't help it... I think that Fall is GREAT! Apples, pumpkins, a changing scenery of color every day, cool crisp mornings and plenty of warm days still to be had! Not to mention fairs and festivals and gatherings of all sorts!Saturdays can be quite busy here at the Bed and Breakfast, but I had to go to Keene today to run a few errands and decided to pop up to Walpole to restock our supply of local apples at Alyson's Orchard. My original intent was to just pick up some pre-picked apples at the orchard store, but as I drove in, the apple trees were bursting with fruit and I couldn't resist the call to pick my own. (It also meant that I could pick a few of each of the varieties they had available, so I didn't have to choose only one.) I also got the big bag (1/2 bushel) because... well, why not?A half-bushel... of Macouns, Honey Crisp, Cortlands and Galas! And then there were pumpkins! I bypassed the giant pumpkins (this time) in favor of a few smaller pie pumpkins. And cider! Yum, yum, yum!As I drove home, I was treated to glimpses of the colors starting to change practically around every curve. I really do love the Fall.More photos from this fall:Last week we drove up to Tenney Farm's farm stand in Antrim to pick up some apples (we really do love getting local apples in the Fall) and fresh corn. While we were inside the store, a rainstorm moved in and it poured!!!! Lucky for us, the farm stand also sells ice cream, so we picked out our flavors and sat back under their covered porch to wait out the storm.Sunny sunflowers... even in the rain!
