On Saturday 31 October, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a second national lockdown for England, with restaurants, gyms and non-essential shops set to close for four weeks from Thursday 4 November.
To support businesses impacted by the new measures, the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) has been extended until December 2020. The Scheme was originally due to end on 31 October. The exact end date has not been announced but we would expect this to be 2 December 2020 if the current 4 week lockdown ends as the government expect.
