McDonald's: 'I tried McDonald's new Adult Happy Meal - one thing confused me'

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Imagine how excited you felt when you were younger and allowed a Happy Meal from McDonald's . For many, that excitement is set to reunite with the launch of a Minecraft Movie Meal - and this time, it's specifically aimed at adults and not kids. It's reminiscent of the days when you would collect TY Beanie Babies from Maccies or maybe even Furbies, and you'd feel a real sense of accomplishment when you'd managed to get several, showing them off in the playground and swapping your duplicates. People still speak about those glory days on social media, chasing the feeling they had way back when. The meal has been created to coincide with the release date of the Minecraft Movie (April 4), but is the Minecraft Movie Meal worth it, and what exactly makes it reminiscent of an 'Adult Happy Meal?' Well, on a straight-up price level, the most eagle-eyed amongst us may have realised that the Minecraft Movie Meal will cost you more - and I can only assume that's because of the toy. McDonald's prices vary from location to location, but a medium nine Chicken McNuggets Meal will cost you £6.99 in my area. The same thing, but the Minecraft Movie Meal version will set you back £8.49. That means you end up paying £1.50 for the toy. Now, that is not how I remember Happy Meals working...Plus, you can get the new sauce on a 'normal' meal, so if you just wanted the sauce, you can save yourself some money. Anyway, price difference aside, many will still want to push the boat out and spend the extra for the collectable. Which, for the trading card nerds amongst us, may be worth it as it is pretty cool. Or so my partner reckons, despite the fact he's not even into Minecraft. But you do get a collectable "McDonald's favourite in blockified form," according to Ben Fox, Senior Vice President Chief Marketing Officer at McDonald's UK, along with a holographic card, and a Minecraft skin on the back of the trading card. Not only that, which will be enough excitement for some, but to celebrate the launch of the meal, McDonald's has also brought out a brand new sauce - and I can confirm it's really tasty, and definitely the highlight of the meal for me. They've brought out a limited-edition hot sauce inspired by the Nether, called 'Neither Flame Sauce,' with crushed red pepper and flaming cayenne, balanced with hints of garlic and sweetness. It's quite a similar style sauce to 'Frank's,' if you've ever tried that. While I don't feel like it deserves a 'flame' title, as it has more of a kick to it than an overwhelming spiciness, it's definitely a welcome addition to the Maccies sauce family and accompanied my nine nuggets perfectly. Sadly, my chips were so cold and therefore inedible - such a shame because when they come hot and fresh, they hit the spot - and instead of Fanta, I was sent water. But that's fine; I can be a hydrated queen. Overall, I hope that McDonald's realises that an 'Adult Happy Meal' really can cash in on some serious nostalgia and make more collectable items. I'm thinking a little collab with Sanrio would be the dream. Imagine chicken nuggets and a Cinnamoroll collectible plushie all in the same box? Yes, please.
