Merck: Merck KGaA, Zebra Technologies partner on product verification platform

Merck KGaA, Darmstadt , Germany , and Zebra Technologies Corporation have announced a collaboration to develop solutions for enhanced product verification, authenticity and trust, according to a press release. The partnership will integrate Zebra's TC58 mobile computer capabilities with Merck KGaA's M-Trust cyber-physical trust platform, which utilizes patented authentication technologies and Web 3.0 crypto technologies. The aim is to improve product safety, traceability and data integrity for AI systems by combining data, identity capture and blockchain-based authentication. The collaboration will produce a handheld reader prototype, incorporating a Zebra TC58 mobile scanner and Merck KGaA's SEC-Reader security pigment detector, enabling product scanning and data sharing with the M-Trust platform via Wi-Fi 6E or 5G. This integrated solution is designed to streamline verification processes and provide comprehensive frontline communication tools. A working prototype will be showcased at Hannover Messe 2025. "By combining our expertise in identification and authentication, both companies will deliver essential solutions for reliable data access across value chains. This integration builds trust in AI systems regarding data authenticity and origin," Thomas Endress , head of M-Trust at Merck KGaA , said in the release. Copyright © 2025 Networld Media.
