Mirella's Ladies Boutique Blog Shine The Light

The goals of the campaign are to raise awareness of men's violence against women by turning cities, regions and countries purple for the month of November; to stand in solidarity with abused women and support them in understanding that any shame and/or blame they may feel does not belong to them but to the perpetrators of their abuse; and to raise the profile of the community agencies that can provide abused women with help as they attempt to live their lives free from violence and abuse. Purple is a symbol of courage, survival and honour, and has come to symbolize the fight to end woman abuse. To commemorate Woman Abuse Prevention Month and the Shine the Light Campaign, Halton Women's Place will be raising flags in 5 locations across Halton - Burlington's City Hall, Town Hall - Milton, Town Hall - Oakville, Town Hall - Halton Hills and at Halton Region. The Burlington Pier will also turn purple for 2 weeks in November as will their lighting outside of City Hall. As well, during the month of November, Halton Women's Place will be participating in the Wrapped in Courage Purple Scarves Campaign selling new purple infinity scarves for $15! We have 20 this year and they make great Christmas gifts.
