Cervical cancer remains one of the leading causes of death among women around the world, because in many countries, screening tests, such as the Pap smear, are simply not available or easily accessible. Thanks to better technology and increased awareness and access, cervical cancer is fairly uncommon in North America. However, it is important that we continue to educate and inform women about the importance of screenings for cervical cancer (and other sexually transmitted infections) and overall cervical health.
