This is the moment where all those sleepless college nights pay off! You've got the right skills, you've found the right position, and you're ready to get started with your new career. And then, you are handed a writing exercise... If that last part sends shivers down your spine, you're not alone. Partnership for 21st-Century Skills says that according to employers, 26.2% of college students have deficient writing skills, and businesses have taken notice. They are responding by adding writing assessments to the hiring process. In the past, poor writing and communication skills could be hidden until later on with a decent cover letter and resume, but with businesses spending billions on remedial writing training each year, writing exercises are becoming much more common. With employers becoming proactive and culling poor writers from the running for jobs, getting writing and communication skills up to speed before graduation must become a top priority for college students! WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU This Summer Bootcamp will provide opportunities for your ideas and creativity to shine while also offering opportunities for your written communications to improve in a powerful, measurable way. Personal Coaching - You will work directly with the Lead Copywriter. Together, you will identify areas for improvement and work to build essential communication skills. Writing - You will write about a diverse range of topics and learn how to present concepts in a compelling, interesting way. Tips and Tricks - You will learn how to proofread your own writing like an editor for consistently great written communication. Ecommerce - Along the way, you will have opportunities to learn about SEO, marketing and branding. Bragging rights - If you impress our Marketing Director with your newly polished writing skills, your content will appear on our website/blog, giving you something real and relevant to share with prospective employers. A Good Time - We keep our work environment positive because we know that good humor keeps us happier and more resilient in times of stress. We stay connected in a virtual environment by cracking jokes, concocting groan-worthy puns and sharing the occasional funny animal video. Working at Mono Machines is serious fun! WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU * You'll be expected to work a minimum of 10hrs a week. * A reliable internet connection and webcam are essential. * No task monkeys please.
