NanoCool: Albuquerque tech firm's acquisition could open opportunity for worldwide growth

An out-of-state company struck a deal last month with an Albuquerque firm that makes package shipping a little cooler — in temperature, that is. NanoCool, founded in 2005 by Albuquerque entrepreneur Doug Smith, was acquired on Feb. 1 by California-based Pelican BioThermal. The Albuquerque company develops and manufactures containers used mainly for the transport of biological samples that need to be kept cold.
