OpenTable has acquired Ness Computing, maker of a restaurant-recommendation app, for $17.3 million. OpenTable, which operates the popular restaurant-reservation website, said the Ness team would be joining it at its San Francisco headquarters. Ness' own app and site will be shut down as its technology is integrated into OpenTable's site. OpenTable boasts it seats 14 million diners per month in more than 31,000 restaurants via online booking.
