Today the European Space Agency's Philae lander set down on a comet 317 million miles away from Earth! Imagine that, landing a probe the size of a washing machine on a comet a couple of miles long. The goal of their mission is to learn more about the formation of our universe. The mere fact that they were able to pull this off is a major accomplishment in itself.
