Coronavirus pandemic forced the world to take a drastic decision- a lockdown, in order to curtail the spread of the deadly disease. The reality of life slowly returning back to 'normal' is upon us especially in the states where the lockdown directive was strict. Recently the lockdown has been eased in various sectors especially with the reopening of the airports and other public places such as restaurants, clubs, worship centres, recreational centres with schools partially reopened for exit students in the secondary schools. The reopening of schools fully has been a major concern for most parents as the need for school children and students to stay safe cannot be overemphasized. How to Keep Your Kids Safe as They Return Back to School With schools reopening soon, here are some of the back to school Covid-19 precautions parents, guardians and teachers are to reinforce so as to prevent the spread of Coronavirus; I. Social distancing Remind your kids to reduce close contact between people to limit the risk of getting infected with the Coronavirus. You should also remind your kids that it is not safe this period to share food, drinks, or anything, for that matter, with their friends. ii. Wearing a mask Wearing a face mask helps contain any potentially infectious respiratory droplets that may be released while breathing, talking or coughing, especially when social distancing is more challenging and even if the person doesn't yet know they're sick. Always ensure that your children have at least one extra face mask in their school bags and also wear a face mask before leaving for school. Iii. Hand Washing Washing your hands limits the risk of getting sick by touching a contaminated surface and then spreading the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth if you touch your face. Parents and teachers should always remind children to wash their hands regularly. You can also include a hand sanitizer in their school bags for them to use in the absence of soap and water. Guidelines for Schools Reopening in Nigeria No matter the level of precautionary measures taken to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, the full opening of schools still comes with some levels of risks. Parents should ensure that schools adhere strictly to the recommended guidelines for school resumption post lockdown to help keep schools as safe as possible. The post 3 Back to School Safety Tips Post Coronavirus Lockdown appeared first on OLounge.
