Alstom: Alstom: banking on AI for rail maintenance

Alstom announces that it is joining researchers, NGOs, private companies and public institutions in a Global Alliance for AI and Democracy to promote reliable and responsible artificial intelligence in the rail industry. At the AI Action Summit in Paris, Alstom presented two AI-based tools to improve rail maintenance: one predicts loss of radio communication between trains and infrastructure, the other provides rapid fault diagnosis. "AI tools can be used for predictive or corrective maintenance, such as our radio failure prediction system, which avoids interruptions in train communication by resolving problems before they affect rail operations," emphasized Pierre Eisenmann, chief data and AI architect at Alstom.
