Policy Energy and Climate Change Policy Introduction Our goal is to protect the planet with two focus areas in mind: making Bekaert a more sustainable company and contributing to a more sustainable world. Our ambition is to reduce our carbon footprint by increasing our use of renewable energy and improving our energy efficiency. Governance This policy applies to all consolidated Bekaert operations and businesses. The Chief Operations Officer (COO) oversees formulating the policy at Bekaert. Divisional CEOs with the support of functions are responsible for ensuring this policy is implemented in their respective business and operations. Policy objectives At Bekaert, we believe it is our responsibility to create a better tomorrow by reducing our carbon footprint. We raise awareness on the importance of energy efficiency and the impact of climate change; We maximize onsite renewable energy wherever technically and commercially feasible; We improve the energy efficiency of our operations by installing energy-efficient infrastructure and equipment in our new plants and plant extensions, in addition to upgrading our facilities; We engage with suppliers and customers to align our carbon reduction initiatives; We assess the impact of climate change on our operations and supply chain and develop climate change mitigation plans; We invest in research and development and seek partnerships that help combat climate change. Version 1 - 2024-11 SBTi Targets We have set SBTi validated targets on our greenhouse gas emissions: For Scope 1 and 2 combined, Bekaert will reduce greenhouse gas emissions in absolute terms by 46.2% by 2030, compared to 2019. For Scope 3, Bekaert will reduce the absolute greenhouse gas emissions from purchased goods and services by 19.7% by 2035 compared to 2019.
