SSAB and the Italian crane manufacturer Fassi have entered into an agreement to supply fossil-free steel to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in crane production. This is stated in a press release. The collaboration includes both SSAB fossil-free steel, manufactured using Hybrit technology, and SSAB Zero, based on recycled scrap. Fassi has previously used SSAB's Strenx steel to increase the lifting capacity and reach of its hydraulic cranes. The new agreement will allow them to launch a new generation of cranes with a significantly lower carbon footprint. "Innovation and sustainability go hand in hand, and this collaboration is an important step towards the cranes of the future," said Fassi CEO Giovanni Fassi, in a written statement. The steel production envisaged in the collaboration will produce close to zero fossil carbon emissions.
