Lights, cameras, action! It may have been a frigid Toronto night and a bit of a walk from the parking lot but from the moment you stepped into the Better Living Centre on the grounds of Exhibition Place you could feel the warmth and excitement from the artists within. It was a wonderful art extravaganza on opening night at the Artist Project in Toronto Feb. 21, 2013. From the vivid spray painted entry mural to the Sony Canada 'Faces Competition'. This juried contemporary art fair was an offering of some of our finer artists in Ontario. This particular opening event had the addition of music, food offerings from some of Toronto's trendy restaurants as well as a wide array of beverages all for a meager ticket price of $24 per person. At that value there was no better way to spend Thursday night out and the ongoing immersion of Toronto art enthusiasts in attendance proved that. The different exhibits ranged from water colour, video artbox, oil/acrylic, pastels, printmaking, textile art, untapped, digital media, glass, mixed media, installation, sculpture, photography, collage, encaustic and drawing. These pieces for available for sale to the public and lucky attendees for opening night get first dibs at spectacular purchases.Even the greeters were decked out in fine artistic fair from painted faces to faux hairpieces and lashes.My husband and I had a fabulous evening and we will certainly be looking forward to attending next year's event.Below are some pictures I took of just some of the fabulous pieces that caught my eye. Although there were many more wonderful pieces it is impossible to showcase them all. I hope that this inspires you enough to want to be part of the party next year when this event returns.
