Paul Edward Photography Blog Classic Portraits

I'm preparing a classic monochrome portrait offer at the moment. The idea is that you get a portrait session in your own home with options to purchase framed prints (hand made locally by the fantastic A-Frame in Brighton). It's fairly simple to set up and for me it's a remedy for the bright high-key colourful jumping in the air photos that are popular at the moment - not that there's anything wrong with those, they're great fun, but they're everywhere and I want to reign them in a bit with some classic portraits. The photos were taken indoors with a plain black backdrop and one strobe with a square soft box immediately to the right of the camera. I did use a second with a snoot pointing at the backdrop in a few as well, but I'm not sure I'll use it next time. Afterwards I made the photos monochrome, with a slight brown colouring to them which I think works nicely and gives them warmth.Of course before I create a web page and brochure, I need some examples. So last night, with the promise of pancakes afterwards, a couple of friends offered to be models. Here are a few from our session: Filed under: Friends, Portrait Photography Tagged: Classic Portrait, flash, monochrome, Paul Edward Photography, photography, portraits
