Enhancing the representation of (true) plus-sized bodies is something that is necessary across all spheres of the fashion industry today. We believe that changing the way we display our clothing is a step in the right direction. As of September 2018, select stores will now have new and improved mannequins in both our ActiveZone and tiVoglio lounges. To bring our vision to life, the Penningtons Visual team along with three models, travelled to Italy to meet with a local mannequin manufacturer to help create the customized mannequins. The creation process involved the 3D scanning of each model to capture every curve and detail of their bodies. During this crucial step, a manual scanner is moved around each model hundreds of times to create a 3D image. Once the image is approved, a life-sized mold is designed and produced. As a final step, makeup, hair and eyelashes were applied by hand on each of the new mannequins. What are your thoughts?
