PetSmart: Help Us Find Freeway: Urge Petsmart to Release the Surveillance Footage

On March 17, 2025, at 7:18 PM, surveillance footage at the Eastvale Petsmart captured a heartbreaking crime: our beloved rescue cat, Freeway, was stolen from the adoption enclosure. Freeway, who has already survived unimaginable cruelty, now faces an uncertain fate at the hands of a criminal. Please sign this petition to urge Petsmart to release the surveillance footage so we can reunite Freeway with the people who love and care for him. At just a couple of months old, Freeway was cruelly thrown onto a freeway, only to be saved by a selfless family who risked their own safety to rescue him. After receiving critical medical care and overcoming FIP, he spent over a year in behavioral rehabilitation to learn to trust again. His journey to recovery was long, and his progress made him finally ready for adoption. But now, all of that has been stolen from him-and from us. Freeway is a shy, sensitive cat who needs specialized care. We are also still waiting for an assigned investigator from the police department, and we understand they have many cases to handle. But this is an urgent matter of animal welfare, and we need all the help we can get. Sadly, he is currently listed as "petty theft" and few precious resources are allocated to this. This is why we feel we need to assist with getting as many as possible involved in helping. Petsmart has said they will cooperate with the police and will shared the video with them once the police make a written request. However, because it is Petsmart property the police cannot release it to us. Without an investigator assigned yet, there is no one looking for Freeway. Even when an officer is assigned, they may not have the time needed to find him. We are asking Petsmart for this video so we can help in locating freeway as well. We know that Petsmart cares deeply about animals and works hard to support pet adoption. That's why we're asking them to help us do the right thing by releasing the surveillance footage of Freeway's theft. We believe that with their cooperation, we can ask the community to help identify the person responsible and bring Freeway home safely. Petsmart, we appreciate all that you do for homeless pets. We are simply asking you to help us continue that mission in this urgent case. Please work with us to bring Freeway home-because every pet's safety matters. Right now, our hands are tied. Without access to the footage, we cannot search effectively or alert the media with crucial details. Petsmart has informed us they are conducting an internal investigation, but time is critical which is why we are asking you to help us get things moving and the tape of this person released.
