Prema Canada Blog Technical Tips: Correct RPM's Make Problem Go Away

Correct RPM'sA tire shop reported an unusual number of repair failures to his Prema distributor. He was really mad! "Why do the Prema repairs fail? These repairs are awful!" The distributor looked at the failed repairs and analyzed the problem. He then looked at the buffers used by the service tech's in the shop and in the service trucks.Every buffer cycled at 20,000 rpm's. These were the cause of the failures. Too high a buffing speed can not only burn the rubber and signifcantly reduce repair adhesion it can damage tire cords and make the tire unrepairable or potentially an accident waiting to happen! When the buffers were replaced with tools that ran under 5,000 rpm's, the failures stopped problem solved!
