Today's passenger tires are being manufactured with thinner innerliners. As a result, there is an ever increasing chance of buffing right through this innerliner. There are a number of things that can be done to prevent this,Use a fine grit buffing stone-coarse grit buffing stones penetrate the innerliner much easier and reduce repair adhesionKeep buffing stones clean and sharp by using inner liner pre-buff cleaning solutions to preclean the area to be buffed.Use a buffer under 5,000 rpm -otherwise the buffing stone can penetrate and/or burn the inner liner thus reducingUse a light touch.Clean the tire with an innerliner pre-buff cleaning solution - using either a scraper or clean lint-free cloth.Rough up the area using very fine grit sandy touch.If any of the cards are exposed, apply one thin coat of vulcanizing fluid, working it well into the texture and allow it to dry thoroughly (the cords will soak up the fluid).Apply a second coat of vulcanizing fluid, again working it well into the texture and allow it to dry thoroughly.NOTE: This procedure is recommended only for tires that are to be used in low speed, off-road conditions. Tires repaired in this manner may not be sate for operation on roadways.
