Renesas: Renesas 1Q profit drops on weak auto and industrial chip demand

Renesas Electronics saw revenue and profit tumble in the first quarter of 2025, hit by ongoing softness in automotive and industrial chip demand. On a non-GAAP basis, Renesas reported consolidated revenue of JPY308.8 billion (approx. US$2.16 billion), down 12.2% from a year earlier. Operating profit declined 26.2% to JPY83.8 billion, while net income plunged 30.8% to JPY73.3 billion.
