DENVER - Two Denver-based energy companies have reached a deal that will enable them to expand in the Delaware Basin of west Texas. The Denver Business Journal reports that Cimarex Energy Co. (NYSE: XEC) will acquire Resolute Energy Corp. for $1.6 billion in cash and stock. Cimarex operates oil and gas properties in the Delaware Basin and the Anadarko Basin in Oklahoma, while Resolute has been focused on developing holdings in the Delaware Basin.
