RICOP Construction Blog Cladding Alternatives

After the industrial revolution, everything of our world has dramatically changed. The construction sector also experienced that and it is changing every day. Many inventions are coming to this sector to make it easier, to decrease cost and to make any constructions more appealing. Cladding is one of them. It basically means a covering or coating on a structure or material. In architecture, cladding is the materials which are applied to the exterior of a building for protections and beautifications. This is becoming very popular as it makes a building much more appealing while providing weather protection, ensuring better health and in some cases saving electricity. It also increases the service life and value of a structure. There are many cladding alternatives which can be used in a building or structure. Thatch is the one which has been used in cladding all over world even before the industrial revolution. Other alternatives includes wood, shingles, clapboards, vertical boards, bricks, stones etc.One of the most used alternative in cladding is wood as it can be sized and trimmed in any shape easily. People like it most as it is beautiful while at the same time inexpensive and nature friendly. Apart from materials, cladding also offers alternatives based on structural design. There are composite panel, rain screen cladding, built up cladding, cement cladding etc. Among those, composite panel is used on commercial projects as it provides faster installation and high fire resistance. On the contrary, cement cladding is mostly used in domestic buildings as it needs low maintenance and offers color options. As there are many alternatives in cladding and most of them serves all the purposes including cost effectiveness, it can be said that better expertise in cladding is going to be the most important factor for construction in near future.
