RigNet: Viasat Completes Rignet Acquisition

Carlsbad-based satellite communications and equipment provider Viasat said Friday that it has completed its acquisition of Rignet, a provider of high speed communications services to the oil and gas and other similar industries. The deal was worth approximately $222M in stock. Viasat said the deal will help it expand into new adjacent industries, including renewable energy, transportation, maritime, mining and other enterprise markets. Rignet will continue to be based in Houston, Texas.
