Rose Park Roasters Blog Roast Notes for 1/11-1/17

Hey Everyone,Just wanted to give you the weekly update on this week's roast adventures. Hopefully this will become a weekly segment where you can tune in to see what we are up to on the roasting side of things, as well as look towards some fun things coming down the line.Notes are effective for the week of January 12th-16th 2015*The El Espresso- This week we subbed out one of our components and so in place of the Organic Colombia Popayan we've inserted an Organic Peru Cajamarca. Flavor-wise there is going to be less fruit in the shot and more chocolate and body. Sometimes I think there is too much chocolate in the El Espresso already... but then I think, is there such a thing as too much chocolate? You decide. Coffee should be ready to pull in a few days...*We said goodbye to one of our favorite coffees, the Colombia Grand Cru- Nick Rodriguez said his last taste of it was "pure sugar water." Farewell sweet friend. But do not worry, we have some exciting Colombia lots coming very soon.*Ecuador Las Cinco- this coffee should be coming online in the next week or so. We've been kicking around a few roast variations these past couple of weeks and with the help of some good people over at Cafe Imports we've altered our roasting style in order to really make this coffee shine. And shine it does. We'll be doing a special highlight of this coffee in our store soon so stay tuned for a tasting extravaganza party.*Sulawesi Toraja Peaberry- I know I should do a whole blog post on peaberries and how they are the cuter cousins of regular coffee seeds, but until then just know that this coffee, in all it's single bean goodness, is intensely rich and will blow your socks off. This coffee will also be up on the site in the next few weeks or so.That's it for this week. Enjoy your weekend!~The RPR Roasting Crew
