When we photograph a wedding we become much more than "just" your photographers. We are crisis managers, dressers, organisers, handbags for the bride and most of all a part of your family for the day.We get asked for help all the time, and it's always a pleasure to be able to provide the right answers to stressed brides and grooms. So, what are the questions we are asked the most?1 How do I put on this boutonniere? What's a boutonniere? I hear you ask. It's the flower the men in the wedding party wear in the button holes of their suits. You would think this would be a simple thing to do right? Wrong, it's amazing how difficult it can be to get it looking right. Richard is an expert on telling the Mother of the Groom how to put these on properly.2 How do I put cufflinks on properly?Again, you'd think this was pretty simple, but it isn't always. Usually the Mother of the Groom has a pretty good idea, but again, Richard is a master at it, thankfully.3 How do I hold my bouquet?Brides struggle sometimes to justify whether to have a bouquet or not. I always advise them to have them as it gives them something to do with their hands. You'd be surprised how many grooms I have to surreptitiously signal to get their hands out of their pockets. They have nothing to hold, and they naturally want to put their hands in pockets, and it's not always a good look. Brides have the option to hold something (apart from their handsome groom's hand) and a beautiful bouquet of flowers is just the right thing for a wedding.Brides also then wonder how to hold their bouquet - just hold it in a natural way. Sometimes when we are doing the after ceremony photoshoot, we'll ask the bride to hold it a certain way, but generally if it feels natural, it looks right.4 Is my veil on tightly enough?Brides also struggle to decide whether to have a veil or not. A lot of brides don't have a veil these days, and that's fine, but a lovely veil can give more opportunities for some beautiful photography.Make sure the veil is secured properly though, a bride's new groom has a tendency to put his arm around the bride, and this can pull the veil down, sometimes almost off!5 I don't normally wear make-up, do I really have to for my wedding?Yes! Even the most gorgeous skin needs a bit of help on your wedding day. Don't forget you'll be photographed with cameras that can pick up every tiny little flaw on your face, having your make-up done professionally will make sure that you look truly stunning on your special day.
