We do a lot of family portrait shoots, and they are a lot of fun, both for us and for the families. It's all about capturing your family at a particular time in your lives.Think about what you want from your portrait session. Do you want to have lovely canvasses to put on your wall? Do you want to have a photobook to look back on? Do you just want digital images to put on your phone or computer or tablet?Whatever it is that you want, let us know so we can incorporate this into our thinking and planning for the session.You need to think about what you will be wearing. It's a good idea to colour coordinate what you are wearing so you don't have clashing colours. That doesn't mean that you can't wear bright colours, but they need to compliment each other. We can help with that.We prefer to do our photography in the mornings or afternoons. That's when the light is best. During the middle of the day, the light is too flat and harsh, and not flattering.If you have a baby that is part of the family, we need to make sure that the baby's schedule is taken into account so that he or she is at their best, not fussing for a feed or cranky because they need to sleep.With young babies, it's a good idea to have a squeaky toy to get their attention too - that always makes for more interesting expressions and better photos.If there are elderly grandparents, we need to take into consideration any mobility issues they may have.Having your portrait taken is a lot of fun, but it can also be quite tiring, so keeping everyone fresh and connected is important.
