Rumi Spice: Harvard students' startup aims to rebuild Afghanistan using Saffron

A group of Harvard students, who are also military veterans, have launched a business that could have wide-ranging economic and political benefits to the country of Afghanistan. The ingredient at the center of their business plan: Saffron. Rumi Spice, a venture that launched earlier this year out of the Harvard Innovation Lab, sources some of the world's highest quality saffron from farmers in Afghanistan, and sells the product wholesale to retailers of premium spices.
