0409 GMT [Dow Jones] Beijing-based Xiaomi Corp.- the world's most valuable technology startup, with a valuation of more than $46 billion--is unlikely to be derailed by intellectual property challenges, according to Rutberg & Co., an investment bank focused on the wireless and digital-media industries. Xiaomi was hit in December with an injunction in India on the sale and import of handsets as a court waited to hear a patent complaint by Swedish telecommunications-equipment maker Ericsson. The court later gave temporary permission to resume the import of devices, but some have wondered about future intellectual-property-litigation risk in other markets. The company "experienced a legal setback in India," but "we believe IP rights are a lesson learned for the company and not an impediment to long-term success," Rutberg & Co. writes in a research note.
