LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / March 24, 2015 / Sumitomo Electric Device Innovations, a leading global provider of advanced optical solutions, today announced at OFC 2015 its expansion of data center offerings with Direct-Attach Cables (DACs).The new DACs provide high-speed interconnectivity performance to data center and server farm operators. Compared with traditional twinax designs, the microcoax design eliminates sharp increases in loss known as "suck-out." The Sumitomo Electric DACs high-frequency transmission characteristics, together with superior flexibility, provide error-free transmission, easy cable routing and optimal airflow in a rack. The DACs are available at 10G, 40G and 100G data rates and available in SFP+, QSFP+ and QSFP28 packages. All products are SFF compliant. The 10G and 40G DAC cables are thin and offer flexible microcoaxial cable over several meters. The QSFP28 features Sumitomo' new suck-out free twinax cable. The DAC family also offers a breakout cable, which is 4 x 10G QSFP+ to 4 x SFP+. The breakout cable has a small bending radius equal to the cable's outer radius.DAC products use copper cable construction manufactured with Sumitomo's proprietary process.Visit us at OFC: Sumitomo Electric Booth 1625March 24 - 26 at the Los Angeles Convention CenterAbout Sumitomo Electric Device Innovations USA, Inc.
