Richardson-based RealPage, which develops software used by the real estate and property management industry, has acquired the assets of Simple Bills Corporation, a provider of utility billing and management for the student housing market. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. According to RealPage, SimpleBills provides its services to over 125,000 students in the United States. The deal will help it add student housing support to its existing, tuility management software. RealPage said that it will add SimpleBills' service to its RealPage Utility Management (RUM) software; Simple Bills' service allows for collection of utility payments from residents directly, with students only receiving their own portion of a utility bill, splitting water, electric, gas, and cable bills among roommates, according to the company.
