Solarflare: Solarflare Acquired By Xilinx

Irvine-based Solarflare, a developer semiconductor used for high performance, low latency networking, has been acquired by San Jose-based Xilinx. Financial details of the acquisition were not anounced. According to Xilinx, the deal will help the company accelerate its "data center first" strategy. Solarflare's network interface cards are used in cloud computing, fintech, and other data center applications, where applications require low latency network access. Xilinx was a strategic investor in the last funding announced by Solarflare, and Solarflare's other investors have included Oak Investment Partners. The company previously raised funding from such investors as Acacia Capital, and Anthem Venture Partners; it's unclear how much of a stake those investors still have in Xilinx, with the last funding rounds from those firms more than 10 years ago.
