Great news for multi use trail riders here in Springfield, IL. 4.4 million dollars have been granted to extend the Sangamon Valley Trail, from Stuart Park to Irwin Bridge Road, near Athens. I have not heard the time line as to construction, but I will keep readers of this blog up to date as I find out more.This is a pretty major extension of that lovely trail. I understand that there is a long and tall trestle in the Sangamon valley portion of the trail. I'm looking forward to riding on that trestle.
