Standard Electric Supply Co. on Thursday got a key recommendation for its plan to buy land from the city of Milwaukee and expand its Menomonee Valley headquarters. The company is based east of North Emmber Lane on the northern bank of the Menomonee River on land it bought from the city in 1986. Standard Electric now plans to buy 1 acre of neighboring city land for a $2 million building expansion that will add 24 jobs. It has 166 employees now, according to a city report.
