As silly as it sounds that is exactly how the Star From Afar began. I had searched for a fun tradition for our family to enjoy during the Christmas season. I wanted an alternative to the Elf traditions. Even though my children were very young at the time they still associated Christmas with presents. I wanted something that gave more focus to the true meaning of Christmas, the reason for the season, the birth of Jesus. All I could find in my search were Advent calendars. Of course my kids loved those little chocolates but I wanted something more interactive, an experience. So, I decided I would create something for them. The Star From Afar looked much different years ago. We read the story of the Wise Men from the Bible; I used our kid nativity set and a cardboard star. My children loved it right away! It was a tangible playful way to remind them of the birth of Jesus.Years later I felt the nudge to DO something with this game! I'm sure you are thinking... We have already heard this story Natalie! We got it! You made this for your kids! Well, here's the moral of the story. I am not a professional artist and I am not a professional writer. I'm just a girl who said YES to the promptings of God. He took the things I am passionate about and lead me to create something with them. He has been with me every step in this journey and my faith has never been stronger. Remember, He never calls the equipped but He always equips the call. What is the Lord calling you to do?Here are my two oldest babies with two of their Great Grandmas who are now in Heaven. It is the Christmas we started our Star From Afar tradition! Ephesians 2:1010 For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to DO good works, which God prepared in advance for us to DO.Lots of Love,Natalie
