I met Lisa and Mark last year at a Starbucks in Waterworks mall to talk about their truly amazing wedding. One of the major concerns they had before hiring me was if I had ever done a Serbian Orthodox wedding. I've done several orthodox weddings in the past but the Serbian traditions were new to me. I did some research to find all the aspects of what makes a Serbian wedding special.I'm very luck to work in a job where I get to document a family's milestone occasions. The Macesich's are a very close family. It was fantastic to look through Mark's parent's photo albums and see the same traditions acted out a generation later. Its a great feeling to know that 30 years from now, Lisa and Mark will be able to bring their own wedding albums to their children's weddings.The Skup is a traditional party before the wedding where everybody except the bride gets together for a meal and traditional music before the wedding. Think of it as like a reception before the wedding. The band wrote a new song to commemorate the day. If you ever get invited to a Serbian wedding, make sure you try the slivo plum brandy, delicious. And every wedding needs a "Stari Svat" (wise older man) to help make sure the groomsmen behave themselves prior to the wedding.The ceremony was at Saint Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church in Monroeville Pa.The reception at the LeMont overlooking Pittsburgh from Mt. Washington, was a beautiful and super-fun affair. Lots of great dancing and libations to cap off a amazing wedding day.Congratulations to Lisa and Mark "Živeli!"EnjoyStephan
