Some of them are quite expensive and others are able to be had for a relatively low price. We all like to have that nice lighter that we got as a gift or saved up and bought to show off to our cigar smoking friends. They are nice to have and use but if you like to enjoy a cigar in more everyday settings it's nice to have one that we may not have spent a lot of money on. Let's face it, no one wants to drop a fifty dollar lighter out of their pocket while hiking or drop it off the side of the boat while on the lake. That's why we have a need for a low priced lighter. But just because it's low priced doesn't mean it has to look cheap or unattractive. That's where a lighter like the Emerald Cigar Lighter comes in. It's an attractive, bright lighter that is functional and easy to use.The Emerald is available in several different colors, black, blue, pewter, red and silver. Each lighter comes in the main color and has chrome highlights. The slim design is shaped to fit into your hand nicely. The mechanism is an elongated piece that covers the flame ignitor and when pressed lifts back and lights the main torch flame. On the side of the lighter is an ignitor that lights a Bic style flame to go along with the torch flame. On the bottom are the butane fill and the flame adjuster. Pretty standard stuff but I do think the extra flame is a nice touch.As far as the operation, it lights consistently and was very easy to refill. The flame adjuster is tiny and a little difficult to work if you have bigger hands. I smoked seven different cigars using the Emerald and I was able to get a good and consistent light all of the time. I was smoking with a friend of mine who was enjoying a larger ring cigar and he needed to use the Emerald and he had a little bit of a problem getting it lit evenly. I blame this more on user error than on the Emerald. Overall I really liked the Emerald. Its slim design fits nicely in your pocket and the price is sure to not hurt your pockets at all. If you're fashion conscious get one of each color and you can coordinate your outfit. Or just get two or three of your favorite colors to enjoy anytime. Of course they make nice gifts for anyone with even a passing interest in cigars.
