Basic Cigar Info:Name: Joya Del JefeStrength: MildWrapper: NaturalOrigin: Dominican RepublicShape: PresidenteFiller: DominicanLength: 7Ring Gauge: 52Price: $1.75Let's face it, not every cigar on the market is great. But let's be honest, sometimes you want to smoke a cigar when it's not convenient to smoke a high end premium cigar. I personally like to enjoy a cigar when I'm fishing or when I'm in the yard doing work. These are not times you want to waste a good high end premium cigar. It's times like this that we want a decent long filler cigar that didn't cost us a lot of money. That's where cigars like the Joya Del Jefe come into play. The Joya Del Jefe Presidente has a wrapper the color of a brown paper bag with a few small veins and a wrapper seam that is visible in some spots. There were a few spots and blemishes in the wrapper but nothing unexpected. The cigar has some give in it, but it seemed to have more give in the foot. The band on the Joya Del Jefe is quite large and colorful for such a low priced cigar at first glance, but after looking at it more closely it looks like a band you'd see on other cigars. The shield is red with a large script "J" on the shield surrounded by the name Joya Del Jefe with lots of gold trim and black underneath. It looks good on the cigar. The cap held up fine for a punch cutter and the cold draw was good. The aroma was very woody with some nutty hints in it.The first third lit fine and produced a lot of nice creamy smoke. It had a nice woodsy flavor with some hints of cedar in it. It was very mild, and it would be a great cigar on a really hot day. The ash had a salt and pepper look to it and held to about the end of the first third. It did have some burn issues but nothing too major at this point. The flavor in the second third was pretty much identical to the first third. The burn was the same and the smoke was the same. Nothing different at all which was kind of refreshing if you think about it.The final third was the same as the first two, well almost, it did offer some spice in the last third but nothing that stood out. The finish was long and a little dry but it remained mild throughout. So overall, the Joya Del Jefe is what you would expect from a cigar priced at $1.75 each. But that's not really a bad thing. It's a cigar to take camping or to smoke while in the garden. It's really a cigar you can smoke anytime you just want to smoke.Final Verdict Ratings:Flavor: 6Value: 7Complexity: 4Finish: 6Aroma: 6Strength: 7Overall: 6
