Storm Eowyn has seemingly emptied Dublin's supermarket shelves - and the northside may be fully out of sliced pans. Ireland is bracing for what is expected to be one of the worst storms in recent memory, with an extremely rare Status Red weather warning issued for the entire country. Severe and damaging winds of over 130km/h are forecast to wreak havoc on Friday, with the capital under red alert between 4am and 11am. Most supermarkets have confirmed they will shut their doors during the storm, but plan to reopen on Friday afternoon. Shoppers have also been urged to remain calm - and not panic buy. CEO of Retail Excellence Ireland Jean McCabe said: "It is short, and by midday on Friday, it will have have passed over most of the country passing through the North by 2pm, so the window is quite small. And if you're going to run out of milk, the stores will be back open when it is safe to do so after that red warning is finished." However, that message seems to have fallen on deaf ears in at least four Dublin supermarkets this evening. Dublin Live's roving reporter Robbie Kane set himself a mission to find a sliced pan to bring home - but was left empty handed on four occasions. His first port of call was Tesco Clarehall, where long queues were seen as people panic bought milk, bottled water, and tinned food. "As you can see, there is no bread.. all the sliced pans are gone," Robbie said. "People have panic bought them all." Our footage on Facebook showed some bread alternatives - such as hot dog rolls - alongside some more expensive bread still available, but these were also in short supply. Robbie also investigated Dunnes Stores in Donaghmede - where there was virtually no bread of any kind left - and Lidl in Baldoyle, where the bakery was left emptied of all but a few tarts. Robbie's northside odyssey ended with him in SuperValu in Sutton, where there was still some bagels, pancakes, and a tiger cob left. But there was no sliced pan waiting for him. "People have panic bought them all... for a storm that's going to last less than 12 hours," Robbie joked as his hunt came to a disappointing end. Sutton's SuperValu, as it happened, was also completely out of milk. For all the latest news from Dublin and surrounding areas visit our homepage .
