Tansky Sawmill Toyota Blog What Can Toyota Do For Wildlife and Humanity?

We're funding 28,000+ species assessments with @IUCN to help protect biodiversity: https://t.co/wGteGwkSku pic.twitter.com/rOO0NUnMbL- ToyotaGB (@ToyotaGB) May 10, 2016While you may, or may not think about it much, depending on how much of a naturalist you are, wildlife enhances life for everyone in Ohio. Perhaps you enjoy taking the truck out into the woods for a hunting or fishing trip on the weekends. Maybe you're a bird watcher, or an avid catcher of frogs and snakes. Maybe you simply enjoy opening your windows to fresh, clean air, filtered by the luxuriant green foliage of the trees.Yet there are many environmental problems that could lead to the destruction of these species. Ohio is home to many endangered and threatened species, including a large number of clams and mussels of Lake Erie.Toyota has a plan to help.In October 2015, the automaker pledged to reduce the negative impact of cars and have a positive effect on society with the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050. As part of this challenge, Toyota has agreed to fund the International Union for Conservation of Nature's research into at least 28,000 species over the next several years, focusing on plants, animals, and fungi that are important to human lives and cultures."The Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050 addresses not only climate change, but also biodiversity. They are two sides of the same coin which can't be dealt with separately," said Inger Andersen, IUCN Director General. "This generous grant from Toyota will enable our Red List researchers to take a big leap towards reaching our goal of assessing 160,000 species by 2020. This would also help IUCN's work in supporting the implementation of the Sustainability Development Goals adopted last year by all the members of the United Nations, particularly the Zero Hunger goal."At Tansky Sawmill Toyota, we're doing all we can to help conserve the outdoors that mean so much to us and our families. That's why our Dublin, OH showroom is LEED Gold Certified. Stop by to learn more about how you can help protect the environment, too, starting with the way you drive!
