Teg Fitness Blog Benefits of Lemon and Warm Water

Benefits of Lemon and Warm Waterby Vladimir Stojnic Recently, my dear brother in law started a fat loss project on his own. One of the changes he incorporated in his life task is a daily intake of hot water with lemon. This non-medical approach is well know for a long time. There are numerous data about the benefits of this rejuvenating hot "cocktail" benefits our body. Water, as we all know is a major part of our body. It is considered as one of the major nutrients. Human body is made up of 70% of water. Not only that, but water is used in most of the cell's chemical reactions and the best part is that it does not contain any calories. Lemon is a fruit rich in vitamin C, a co-enzyme that plays a big role in the immune system. Also, lemons beside the fact that contain citric acid, in human bodies act as alkaline which helps in balancing the pH. The combination of both are best in warm water. Vitamin C is water soluble, therefore, it is not recommended to be boiled water due to the potential lost of vitamin. Beside that, warm water with lemon helps digestion. It's mix supports smoother contraction of peristalsis, a smooth muscle that moves chyme (semi-digested food) to the stomach for further digestion. On the top of that, both water and vitamin C are necessary for firmness of the skin. Ascorbic acid (other name for vitamin C) is a major co-enzyme for collagen, a protein which is important aid for growth cells, including cells of skin. We see that such a small morning routine can help our bodies to overcome the life stress. Moreover, it can aid in the fat loss by jumpstarting digestive system. So thumbs up for my brother in law in his healthy decision. References:VanPutte, C. L. (2013). Seeley's essentials of anatomy & physiology (8. ed.). New York: McGraw-Hill.
