Teva's generic Cytomel is used as a replacement therapy for certain cases of underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism); as an add-on therapy to surgery and radioiodine therapy in the management of thyroid cancer; and as a diagnostic therapy in suppression tests to differentiate suspected mild hyperthyroidism or thyroid gland autonomy.
