Pazartesi, Mart 31, 2025 BOC Aviation has placed a fresh, confirmed order for 50 Boeing 737-8 aircraft, significantly boosting its fleet of 737 MAX jets to a total of 215, including both the 737-8 and 737-9 models. BOC Aviation is set to grow its Boeing backlog to 139 aircraft awaiting delivery. At present, the company leases out 69 Boeing 737 MAX jets to over 15 airline customers across the globe. "Our strong partnership with Boeing has led to this 50-aircraft order for the fuel-efficient Boeing 737-8 aircraft. With this transaction, we have commitments to purchase over 140 of these aircraft, which is the largest Boeing orderbook position in our history, " said Steven Townend, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, BOC Aviation. "This order will enable us to continue providing our airline customers with technologically advanced aircraft for their future fleet growth." As single-aisle aircraft are expected to make up 75% of all global jet deliveries over the next two decades, leasing companies are actively expanding their order pipelines to align with airline growth strategies and the phase-out of aging, less fuel-efficient fleets. So far, leasing firms have committed to over 1,200 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, aiming to replace as many as 300 Next-Generation 737s annually, which are anticipated to exit passenger service by the close of this decade. "BOC Aviation's latest investment in the 737-8 demonstrates the confidence lessors have in this airplane to meet continued air travel demand and improve fuel efficiency ," said Brad McMullen, Boeing senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing. "The 737-8 is much sought after by airlines due to its unmatched versatility, generating significant operational savings because of lower fuel consumption." The 737-8 is a highly adaptable single-aisle aircraft, offering seating for 162 to 210 passengers depending on the layout, and a maximum range of 3,500 nautical miles (6,480 kilometers). Its efficiency and flexibility make it ideal for both short-haul and medium-haul routes, delivering strong performance across a variety of markets.
