At Bandit, we take our matcha pretty seriously. Most cafés just do coffee decently well, however, we pride ourselves on serving both premium coffee and matcha. That’s why we exclusively stock vibrant, ceremonial grade matcha in our matcha bar. Many consider matcha to be an acquired taste. It’s full-bodied, earthy, and bold. So if you’re trying matcha for the first time, we recommend priming your palate with our Matcha Latte or Matcha Palmer (matcha blended with lemonade, mint, and honey)! We also add a little bit of the naturally sweet agave syrup to all of our matcha drinks. 1. However, matcha contains an amino acid called L-theanine which helps our body absorb the caffeine at a slower rate. This property may make you feel more focused and have a desirable boost in both energy and mental clarity.2. Catch These Catechins ✋ Matcha has a unique class of antioxidants known as catechins, which aren’t found in other foods. In particular, the catechin EGCg provides potent cancer-fighting properties. EGCg helps stabilize harmful free radicals from pollution, UV rays, radiation, and chemicals that can damage our cells and cause chronic disease. Essentially, matcha is an antioxidant one-two punch. 3. It’s More Filling & Makes Us Less Hangry 🥰 Remember how we mentioned EGCg earlier? That antioxidant increases CCK (cholecystokinin) which is the hormone responsible for making us feel full. Matcha is the optimal afternoon pick-me-up for when we just can’t stop snacking.
